Privacy policy
Short version: the tools work inside your browser, so your PDFs stay on your phone or computer. We don’t have accounts, we don’t sell data and we don’t use advertising trackers.
Who we are
Live PDF Editor (livepdfeditor.com) is a free website with tools to edit, convert, compress, organise and protect PDF files. If you have a question about privacy, write to hello@livepdfeditor.com.
Your files in browser tools
Almost every tool on Live PDF Editor runs inside your browser. When you add a file, it is read, changed and saved on your own device. It is not sent to our server or to anyone else, and we never see it.
When you close the tab, the file is gone from the page. The finished file is only saved where you download it.
Moving a file to the next tool
When you choose a tool from the home page, or use “Continue with” after a tool has finished, the file is kept for a moment in your browser’s own storage (IndexedDB) on your device, so you don’t have to choose it again. It is deleted as soon as the next tool opens it, or after 30 minutes at the latest. It never leaves your device.
Fonts and program files
To work, the site downloads its own program files from livepdfeditor.com, and Edit Text Pro and Edit PDF may download a font (for example Tinos or Noto Sans Devanagari) when your text needs it. These downloads contain no part of your file.
Like every website, our hosting provider may keep short technical logs of these requests (such as IP address, browser and time) to keep the site secure and working. They never contain the contents of your files.
Tools that use our server
Some future tools, such as Office conversions and AI tools, need our server. They are always marked with a cloud icon and the words “Uses our server” before you add a file. For these, your file (or, for AI tools, only its text) is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted automatically within 1 hour. Nobody looks at it, and it is never used to train AI models.
What we keep on your device
A few settings are saved in your browser so the site remembers you: your language (also in a small cookie called “lang”, kept for one year), light or dark mode, recently used and pinned tools, and the last options you picked in a tool. Passwords you type into Protect PDF or Unlock PDF are never saved.
If you switch on “Remember it on this device” in Sign PDF, your signature image is kept in your browser for next time. Switch it off and it is deleted.
All of this stays on your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Cookies and tracking
Besides the language cookie, Live PDF Editor uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and tools are used. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named “_ga”) and receives your browser and device type, approximate location and the pages you open. It never receives your files, their names or their contents.
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland these analytics cookies are switched off, and only anonymous counts without cookies are sent. Google’s advertising features are off everywhere: we don’t use advertising cookies, we don’t follow you across other websites, and we don’t build profiles. You can block Google Analytics with your browser’s tracking protection, and every tool still works.
What we don’t collect
There are no accounts, so we don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number. We never sell data or share it for advertising, and the contents of your files are never logged.
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and we delete them when you ask.
Your choices and rights
You can use every browser tool without giving us any personal information. You can delete everything the site stores on your device by clearing your browser data for livepdfeditor.com. To ask about, correct or delete anything you sent us by email, write to hello@livepdfeditor.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we update this page and the date at the top. Important changes are explained in plain words here.
